Many collections contain valuable documents, but they are often incomplete, scattered, or difficult to locate when they are needed most. Missing documentation can slow the appraisal process, increase research time, and make it more difficult to establish provenance, ownership, or authenticity. This service reviews the documentation currently available for your collection and identifies missing or incomplete records. Depending on your project, recommendations may include organizing existing files, identifying key documents to locate, or creating a practical documentation structure for future collection management. Better documentation supports faster reviews, more efficient appraisal preparation, and stronger records for insurance, estate planning, charitable donations, collection management, and other professional purposes. This service starts at $175 per hour (minimum one hour). The final fee depends on the scope, complexity, completeness of the documentation, and the amount of research or organization required. Any additional work will be quoted and approved before charges are incurred.

JY&A Booking Policy Payment is required before work begins. Clients are encouraged to provide any available inventories, photographs, supporting documents, and other relevant information before the service begins, whenever applicable. Well-prepared information helps improve efficiency and allows us to determine the most appropriate next step. Any work beyond the purchased service or agreed project scope will begin only after written client approval. Deliverables and the estimated turnaround time will be confirmed once the project scope has been established. If additional services—including travel, on-site visits, photography, documentation support, research, third-party coordination, shipping, storage visits, or other project-related work—are required, a separate quotation will be provided before additional work begins. Whenever appropriate, services are provided remotely to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary costs. On-site services will be recommended only when professionally necessary. Service fees are non-refundable once work has begun. Our goal is to provide efficient, transparent, and professional support tailored to the needs of each project.
