About the Founder

Juliette Yuan is the founder of Juliette yuan & Associates, an independent fine art advisory and appraisal practice based in New York, serving clients across the United States, Europe, and Greater China.

Her practice is built on nearly three decades of cross-border art world experience - spanning galleries, museums, art fairs, and cultural institutions in New York, Paris, Shanghai, and Beijing. She has curated major exhibitions including Shanghai Biennale and Chengdu Biennale, directed a Paris-based Asian antique gallery - one of the few led by Chinese specialists in the city at the time - serving a discerning clientele including senior figures in French government, finance, fashion, and entertainment. She also managed and consulted for more than 70 Asia-Pacific galleries and institutions through a leading international art fair, and has lectured at top academies including New York University, École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs (ENSAD / National School of Decorative Arts, Paris), and the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA, Beijing). This depth of institutional and market exposure informs her approach to art advisory and valuation: with independent judgment grounded in a long-term understanding of how artistic, cultural, and financial value is formed and preserved.

Since founding Juliette Yuan & Associates, Yuan has built a practice spanning artist representation, curatorial projects, and valuation advisory. In its early years, the firm represented artists directly to global collectors through small scale and thematic exhibitions, placing work across rising talents and established artists with institutional standing, including those held in the collections of MoMA and the Guggenheim, working across painting and experimental, technology-driven media. Yuan maintain active standing with galleries, fairs, and auction houses internationally, keeping her directly connected to primary and secondary markets activity and emerging and blue-chip inventory as they move, and underpinning the accuracy and currency of her valuation work today.

Yuan advises collectors, fiduciaries, legal professionals, foundations, and institutions on collection management and valuation matters requiring cross-jurisdictional expertise - including internationally developed collections, estate and inheritance contexts, multilingual provenance documentation, and privately held collections shaped across multiple legal systems.

Yuan holds a Master’s degree in French Literature from the Sorbonne (France) and brings six years of doctoral research in art history and curatorial practice from the Planetary Collegium at Plymouth University (UK), with a visiting scholarship at New York University. During this period, she directed and edited a major trilingual (English-French-Chinese) publication series featuring leading scholars, curators, and artists at the forefront of media art - work that underpins the critical depth of her advisory practice today - and her research writing has also appeared through international academic publishers including Intellect Books (UK). She continues to publish professional commentary and market insights through her own platform and industry media.

Yuan is an Accredited Member of the Appraisers Association of America and provides advisory and USPAP-compliant appraisal services in Western Postwar, contemporary, and Chinese 20th- and 21st-century arts in English, French, and Mandarin Chinese.
