You will work closely with the owner/founder of JY&A, help her to manage her art consulting firm, making a small business popular, profitable, and successful.

You will brainstorm with her to find the best strategies to promote the firm's brand, culture, people, services, and grow the business. You will learn how to set up a business, understand the role of art consultants/advisors and their unique contribution to people's lives; you will train yourself into a smart and resourceful solution provider, design the best services to fulfill JY&A clients' needs. 

Whichever the position you are qualified for, you will acquire deep knowledge in the art and business, improve your professional skills, gain rich hands-on experience with an extensive network to empower your career in the future.

While our internship is unpaid, we will reward our intern team members with worldwide renowned business experts' guidance and tips that even the established professionals would find exceptional and unique.

Position - Sales

 

General information

Who should apply 

  • You are Bachelor or Master (preferable) graduates majored in modern and contemporary art history, art management, or art business, and you are interested in working for art galleries, art fairs, auction houses, and art advisory firms 

  • You are majored in Marketing, Business, Economics, or Law  with interest and knowledge in modern and contemporary art history (1900-present)

  • You have a regular job with a lot of extra energy and spare time to nurture your passion for modern and contemporary art history and art business

  • You are bilingual with  proficiency in English and Chinese Mandarin (preferable)

  • You have strong willingness and ambitions of becoming a powerful art marketing/sales professional 

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-year experience in art marketing and sales position in an auction house, art gallery, art fair, or other commercial art endeavor

  • Excellent communication skills, resourceful solution provider 

  • Self-starter with proactive attitude. You are creative, can think out of the box 

  • Experience in branding and promoting small business especially art or cultural endeavors

  • Online social media guru, great storyteller with excellent writing skills, know how to combine images and texts to build interesting narratives

  • Microsoft Office, Final Cut Pro (or at least iMovie), Photoshop (or Illustrator, InDesign)

  • sense of responsibility, organizational skills. Plan ahead of action, can meet deadlines

  • Rational, strategic, persistent, do not  get discouraged easily by rejections

  • Patience and diplomacy, can handle sensitive topics with strategy and tact 

  • Strong willingness of becoming a powerful art marketing/sales professional

Your responsibilities

  • Branding

- Research and develop the most efficient branding strategies and tools for JY&A​

- Promote JY&A's brand, culture, people, and products (services and works of art) on social media platforms such as FB, Ins, twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, WeChat (Chinese Mandarin), zai-art.com (Chinese Mandarin), etc. 

  • Marketing/Promotion

- Create attractive stories based on JY&A's background and facts for the promotion of JY&A and its services

- Research and develop JY&A's collaboration with bloggers, online and offline media

- Explore or create new marketing strategies, tools, platforms, channels to promote JY&A

- Design an efficient marketing/promotion plan for JY&A, and execute it

  • Work on/with JY&A website 

- Improve the current website structure and content, work on SEO and Google analytics, make the website more users friendly

- Drive JY&A website's traffic, increase JY&A subscribers 

  • Sales

- Make online sales from JY&A online gallery and social media platforms​

- Explore new sales channels and platforms (including e-commerce platforms) 

- Develop new buyers for JY&A

- Develop new commercial projects for JY&A in the following industries: real-estate, fashion, luxury, architecture and interior design, etc.

  • Coordinate with JY&A artists and collaborators, conduct interviews and/or work meetings, work with JY&A owner and the artists on art salons and special projects

  • Work with the owner and her Assistant on writings, graphic design, documentation, of exhibitions, special projects, media campaign, social media promotion, and newsletters

  • Work with the owner and her assistant on JY&A live video streaming production

Internship 

 

Position - Assistant to the Owner (filled)

General information

  • Work schedule: full time (15-20 hours per week)

  • Location:

  • Probation: Three months

  • Salary range: Unpaid

  • School credits: Yes

 

Who should apply 

  • You are Bachelor or Master in-school students majored in modern and contemporary art history (1900-present), curatorial studies, art administration, or art management, and you are interested in working for art galleries, art fairs, auction houses, and art advisory firms 

  • You are bilingual with proficiency in English and Chinese Mandarin (preferable)

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills, resourceful solution provider 

  • Self-starter with a proactive attitude and a great sense of responsibility. Highly organized, detail-oriented, plan before action, can meet deadlines 

  • Skillful with Microsoft Office, mastery of Adobe Photoshop, FinalCut, of other graphic design and video editing software (preferable) 

  • Knowledge on Wix.com products with website editing hands-on practice (no need with coding)

  • Great writing and documentation skills, can design and edit artists' work brochures, research documentation, etc.

  • Know how to conduct academic research in art history, artist's background, creative process, or any related topics

  • Emotionally stable, patient and diplomatic, can handle sensitive issues with strategy and tact 

Your responsibilities

  • Keep JY&A website up to date

  • Produce artists' brochures for collectors

  • Coordination with JY&A artists, collectors and collaborators for various tasks

  • Writing and visual materials editing for JY&A branding and promotion

  • Assistance in JY&A events' organization

  • English-Chinese translation (verbal, written) and vice versa

  • Work with Marketing/Sales Manager in JY&A branding and promotional plan

  • Administrative work such as schedule meetings, interviews for the owner, book conferences, special programs, etc.
